Day 329: My Favorite Was the Hardest One

Today I would like to write about my favorite blog post and the hardest one to title.  They are one and the same.  The name of the post is I’m a Writer and the reason why it is both the best and the hardest is simple.  I love writing, I don’t make any money from it.  You do the math.

The thing about my life is that writing is the favorite and the hardest thing to do for me.  I give you a simple example.  As I’ve done for the last four years, I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo and the idea is to write 50,000 words in 30 days.  This year I was ready.  I started writing between 1,500 and 2,000 words a day and after day 7 I stopped.  It is not because I don’t have the idea or the progress mapped out in my mind.  I did that the first year and I still don’t know if I will ever finish that one.  It is not that I don’t have clear plans and points that I want to make.  It is not that I don’t know the topic, I actually know the topic really well.  It is about the fact that I am probably scared that I will finish it, like it and want to print it.  Then nobody will buy it.

So after sitting by myself this morning and meditating about it, I decided to start writing again.  I have written a total of 15,000 words and I have six more days to finish.  The next few days, I will start my day writing.  Then I will spend most of Sunday finishing it.  Then I will rewrite it, get an editor and self publish as an e-book.  I don’t care if nobody buys it.  The point is that I set myself a goal, I worked through it and I finished it.  That is all I want to do.

To me, being a writer is not about being famous or having millions of people read what I write.  To me, being a writer is about having something to say and then saying it.

So what is your favorite thing to do?  Which one is the hardest?  Leave your comment below.

    1. I am doing the same thing I do every year. I spend the last seven days of NaNoWriMo working like a crazy people to finish a story on time.
I now have four stories and the need to pick one. Like I said, I don’t care if I don’t sell one copy.
At least I put it out there and hopefully someone will read it.
Good for you on writing a book. You are definitely ahead of the game.
